APEC University and Tito Mella Foundation join efforts to create the first maritime library in R.D


The Tito Mella Foundation donated to the APEC University (UNAPEC) 265 pieces of international jurisprudence and containing studies of the most relevant cases in the maritime field known by the Federal Courts of the United States of America and which were received as a contribution from the office Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads, LLP.

With this act, the First Maritime Library of the Dominican Republic was inaugurated, an initiative that forms part of the action program of the Collaboration Agreement signed between UNAPEC and the Tito Mella Foundation, signed on April 3, 2013.

APEC University had acquired an important bibliography of commercial maritime law following the establishment in its classrooms of the First Masters in Maritime Law, in a joint effort with the Tito Mella Foundation.

The protocolary act of the creation of the first Tito Mella Foundation Maritime Library was chaired by the Rector of the academy, Dr. Franklyn Holguín Haché, the Dean of Law, Judge Alejandro Moscoso Segarra, the Director of the Library of UNAPEC, Giovanna Riggio, and the directors of the Tito Mella Foundation, the graduates Héctor Vinicio Mella Garrido, President, and Lludelis Espinal de Oeckel, Executive Secretary.

Both Dr. Holguín Haché and Mr. Mella stated that the first Tito Mella Foundation Maritime Library constitutes the first specialized source of free access for all those interested in the subject, who will be able to enjoy the content of it, visiting its facilities located in UNAPEC.
