Recognizing the fundamental role of women in the political, economic, social and cultural development of the Hemisphere, the Organization of American States (OAS) promotes the leadership of women in public institutions as well as in the private sector. Due to the importance of its leadership to boost competitiveness, the Inter-American Ports Commission (CIP) has the objective of empowering professional women in the port sector of the Americas.
The CIP Secretariat, with the support of the OAS Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), is proud to announce the winners of the 2017 Maritime Award of the Americas in the category of Outstanding Women in the Maritime and Port Sector for their leadership , dedication and its significant achievements. This Award recognizes their professional contributions to the development of a competitive, safe, sustainable and inclusive port sector in the Americas.
