New York | April 28 – May 1, 2026

Maritime law professionals, Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Clubs, and industry representatives gathered in New York City for a series of discussions held alongside the Maritime Law Association of the United States' annual activities, which also recognised the centennial of the Federal Arbitration Act.

Our Managing Director, H. Vinicio Mella; our President, Lludelis Espinal (Judy); and our Head of P&I Affairs, Ericka Oeckel.

The discussions addressed pressing challenges in maritime arbitration, emphasising the need for specialised training, efficient dispute resolution mechanisms, and practical legal solutions to commercial conflicts affecting international shipping and global supply chains.

Attorney Lludelis Espinal participated in the gatherings, engaging with industry professionals and representatives of leading P&I clubs, including Gard, Skuld, American Club, NorthStandard, UK P&I Club, Steamship Mutual, Britannia, and West of England.

The events provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the evolving legal and commercial challenges facing maritime transportation.

Special thanks to Gard and Skuld for their invitations and to the participating P&I clubs and maritime law firms for their contributions to these important industry discussions.
